Lunctime Concert

June 30, 2007

I guess I should write about the Lunchtime Concert though I have been lazy so I couldn’t be bothered. It happened two days ago. Go figure. So the Lunchtime Concert is this “concert” at our school where people perform stuff etc. So we (the band) performed Get What You Want by Operator Please. And I have to say, from my point of view, it was pretty horrible. I’ll write about it some more when I don’t feel lazy, but yeah, anyway.

Edit!

Yay, I no lazy anymore so I go and editz t3h postsz0rs! Anyway, rehearsals went pretty crappy. My friend, who is the keyboardist/guitarist hates the music teacher that’s organising and pretty much blames everything on him, even if it isn’t his fault. So anyway, for the rehearsals, there’s this keyboard part but she wasn’t getting the keyboard ready for it. This irked me because she is the keyboardist, so she should be the one getting it, not me. It is her responsibility. So I get her one, but it turns out that it’s not loud enough for everyone to hear, so anyway, come to the day we actually play, she didn’t bother getting a mic for it during rehearsals so she’s stuck playing a keyboard in which no one can hear. That’s one disaster.

Second disaster is the first playing itself. We play it two times because different years come to see it. Anywho, my friend’s guitar was out of tune for some reason and some people kept playing around with her amp so all her settings went psycho. And so the guitar sounded out of tune. I’m pissed about that as well.

Three was just a horrible playing, I’m not even going to get in there.

Overall, I found it pretty crappy but people were going it was good so I was just like “Okay thanks!” with a big :D

Man, whatever.

Follow up post.

zOMG MOTORBIKE SHOP!

My Scorpion

Originally uploaded by flashpics

Today I went motorbike shopping and in Australia, you have to buy bikes that are below a certain cc, and that is 250 when beginning (they’re called Learner Legals). So anyway, I was looking around and I asked where they were, and this one in the photo, Yamaha Scorpio Z was there, which cost $AU5,200. It looked so cool but it was just a little too tall for me. It’s not that I couldn’t stand when sitting on it… it’s just that I was standing on one foot when sitting on it.

I then saw this other one, I think it was the Honda Spada, and it was about the same height as the Scorpio though I didn’t sit on it to test it out because it was raining and the seat was wet. Sif I’d sit on it! It’s also a second hand bike and costs approximately $AU3,200.

The next one, I can’t remember but it was also a Learner Legal though it was modeled after Harley Davidsons because of its low ride. The guy was telling me how these kind of bikes are built for women especially, and how they’re great because since it’s so low, all the weight is transferred under the seat so turning it apparently easier (well if anyone can confirm that then be my guest). However, it’s the most expensive (at $AU6,200, I think) out of the these three so it’s difficult choosing! Though I am opting for the third choice seeing as it’s low enough for me to sit on.

YouTube Videos!

June 17, 2007

Yay, YouTube videos! These are some pretty interesting videos I have found in the past few days.

1. This guy plays a metal version of Kelly Clarkson’s Since U Been Gone with the drums.

2. Golden Skans by Klaxons, music video

3. Random drum solo. It’s pretty good in my books, but some improvements can be placed here and there.

Australian Royal Army Navy Band

The Navy Band

Today was pretty awesome, the RAN came to our school and performed for us, which I thought was really cool. There this was this “rock” section which was awesome, but totally lame at the same time. I mean, they were playing popular songs (they played I Love It and Pictures by Sneaky Sound System, a song from the new INSX and this crap song by Christina Aguilera.) It was good, but the way they were dressed in their navy uniforms, performing songs like that was just a bit corny. Anywho, I had fun singing along to these two SSS songs, though.

I also got to talk to this lady called Heather Wright, who was a percussionist and she was playing snare drum rolls with the last part of the show. Awesome. Also, there was this guitarist who could shred like no other. His name was Aaron Geeves, and seriously, he rocked. He was like another Angus Young. I’m seriously going to look out for these guys  when they play anywhere. They are friggin’ awesome. Hopefully, I’ll be able to meet Heather Wright once again. Seriously, she looked like Padme off Star Wars.
