I am really pissed, because of three events just decided to happen all in hour which is such a coincidence.

One, my friend came in late because she was doing an exam regarding hospitality. So she knocks on the door and says out loud “Sorry I’m late” and as usual, the teacher says “Just sit down” because he doesn’t really like her. So anyway, she sits down, and I sit behind two of my friends, one of them being the one that was late. The both of them decide to snicker at something and then the teacher tells them both to be quiet and the friend that was late talks back and says “No!” So the teacher said “Would you stop whinging?” My friend replies, “Yeah, as soon as you stop whining, so just shut up!” The teacher lost it and told her to get out. My friend didn’t get out because the teacher always said that and usually gave up in the end but this time he kept persisting and she shouted “Alright, I’ll go!”

Why am I pissed off at that? It’s because everytime I want to learn from him, she’s always talking with the friend next to her and vice versa. She is the worst case and the other friend, the second worst case. They always talk in there and everytime, he has to stop to tell them to shut up. Honestly, we’re all in our last year of school and I just want to get this year over and done with so I can get out of this fucking dump. Which comes to my next rant.

One day, I took the bus to get home and there was this kid who was attempting to open the window. It obviously wasn’t going to open so I told him to sit down and he did. This was about three months ago and today, he decides to throw a paper ball at my head and he actually gets my head (I thought you needed a brain for co-ordination). So I walk up to him and yell “What the fuck are you doing, you fucking grom!” which I regret for saying because I had a text book with me and could have hit him with it. It’s idiots like that which make me want to finish school and get out of there. Has society always been like this? As in the majority is filled with idiots with the minority as smart, intelligent and caring people?

The next rant is that I’m always out of the loop with any kind of gossip that gets passed around. I am always last and that really pisses me off. Everytime I want to share a bit with my friends they always go “Oh yeah, I heard about that!” Why is it me? This is a bit of a short rant but this has always pissed me off about how little I know about my school.

As I say the what the cat is saying in an expletive version: “WHERE T3H FUCK IS MAH FUXING CATNIP?!?!

Stickin’ up for DC

This is going to be pretty personal post about Marvel, so if you can’t take it, don’t read it.

The title says it all. The people who choose between Marvel and DC obviously base their choice on personality (I would say) and not stories from each company.

On a site I go to, the active forum posters seem to enjoy Marvel more than DC. Some people have good reasons, others just like to blast it in peoples’ faces.

There are two distinctive styles between the companies. The way I see it from my experience, DC is more of a fantasy type style (like aliens that will invade us and are afraid of fire) but still with plausible plots. They also don’t go crazy and write that Superman goes and beat Darkseid and Doomsday in under four panels. Marvel has the feel of fast-paced action scenes (with plenty of violence) and heaps of action which still comes along with plot development.

Please excuse me if I’m biased and please point it out because I am a regular DC reader but it seems that Marvel fans’ personalities and the style of Marvel stories feed off each other. Just take a look at this thread and if you want, this one.

Because Marvel has fast-paced action, regular readers would relate to Marvel’s style, or they feed *off* Marvel’s style. Either way, regular Marvel readers seem to bring their raw personalities into other social experiences they have. And that’s where they lose their reasonable thinking. To me, it looks like the fast-paced action and violence are brought into whatever conversations/discussions they have whenever someone disagrees with them, and they also seem to have this strong bias towards Marvel, as if it were their only child and they had to stick up for it.

Here’s a quote from the first thread I linked to:

“Marvel all the way. DC comics suck even though i live in DC”

From the second thread:

“I new marvel was beter.”

And here’s a few regular Marvel readers with this:

“I like marvel’s characters better. I am not a big fan of the all powerful Superman universe. A character like that here and there is ok but it seems like everyone in DC has to have Super Speed, Strength, and Durability if you want to be considered a hero(with the except of Batman the God Slayer).

“what are you talking about, everyone knows marvel is better. dont get me wrong , i like D.C. too. but they’re just a bit too fantastic. their superheros are way too powerfull not to mention sups. plus some of them are just too rediculous, mr.miracle for instance, what kind of suiperhero is that? on the other hand marvel has tons of wonderful characters which happen to be way more realistic, AND in real cities, with more realistic powers. plus not all of them (90%)can fly, have superstrength,or are the most of anything like in the D.C. universe. IM NOT SAYING D.C. SUCKS OR ANYTHING JUST MAKING A COMPARISON where before my eyes marvel takes the lead.”

“yeah marvel wins always but since we all liek marvel heres something who do you actually like in dc for me of course its composite superman”

(I didn’t even understand that last quote there.)

From what I conclude, regular readers of Marvel do not enjoy DC as much because Marvel is more “realistic”. I don’t know what they’re smoking but I don’t know how you can say Marvel is more realistic, considering they have mutants. I mean sure, Superman’s an alien, but how do we know that alien life is not living amongst us? I also conclude that most Marvel readers don’t enjoy DC because of their super powered characters, which relates back to the “realistic” factor. I quote from Cosmic Sentinel:

“I generally prefer DC. I like the mythic quality that DC has. They also have alot of character to them. So I think that mythiness puts DC over the edge for me.

I don’t think the DCU is that overpowered, it just seems it because of DC’s big sellers compared to Marvel’s. Marvel have plenty of Superman level characters and cosmic story lines, just that Spidey and the X-Men sell better. DC has lots of characters with few to no powers (besides Batman) but they tend to get overshadowed by the characters in the JLA.

To me though, the whole Civil War has made the Marvel U worse, not better. My hope is that WW Hulk will improve things. I guess that’s another thread though.”

The point of this post is that to me, regular Marvel readers seem to be stuck up in their own little worlds to see what DC really is. I’d say most Marvel readers would think of Superman instantly when DC is mentioned and assume that all characters are like that too, which is not true. In conclusion, Marvel readers (with a few exceptions) are too ignorant to see what DC had provided and seem to have little respect for DC.

The title of this post is absolute bullshit, I don’t even know what I was thinking. Anyway, sorry for the absence. I’ve been pretty lazy and I need to kick my ass into gear which I am still figuring out how to do. I also have some stories which were meant to posted days ago.

1. So anyway, in in computer class, where the girls are outnumbered by the guys and they were passing around this little booklet that came free with the men’s magazine, FHM. So I assumed that inside the booklet were sex positions for guys to try out seeing as there was a big “SEX” on the front of the booklet. One guy in my class was looking at it secretly and it somehow fell under the table and he tried to hide it with his feet, but the teacher saw the guy move his feet and picked up the book and confiscated it. Oh the fun times in school.

2. My friend usually drops me off at home after school because she has her licence and so she offered to drop of this girl that we find highly annoying. Why my friend agrees to drop her off is a question to me too. So anyway, we all got in the car and to get to that annoying girl’s house, we have to go through this roundabout. In all of our teenage glory, my friend did about six 360s around the roundabout and we were all laughing so hard.

After we dropped off that annoying girl, we went to this place called La Parouse where it features a nice beach… and a nudist one too. The last time my two friends went there, they encountered someone who was most likely a paedophile asking them if they would like to join him in the nudist beach. The next time they saw him on the same day, he was nude with a hard-on. Noice. And they were trying to run away on dry sand. Uphill. Those poor, poor girls. So anyway, I asked them if I could go there with them and we went to the beach. We walked across to the nudist beach and no one was there, luckily. The things separating the nudist beach and clothed beach was this hill and sound huge rocks around the hill. So basically it looked like this:

So when we were at the nudist beach (clothed!) we went around the rocks to the clothed beach and that was an awesome adventure itself. Then on the beach, I got a stick and wrote “LOL” like in Castaway. All-in-all, fun days.

Indie to major… sellout?

For the indie musos…

Originally uploaded by WendySkeleton

Well, it’s the last day of school holidays for me, and watching re-runs of Dr. Phil and Oprah is now finished. :(

Now onto my proper post. If an indie band is offered a deal by a major label and the band accepts, is that band considered a “sell out”? Well in my opinion, no, I don’t think that is considered a “sell out”.

To me, the reason why I think indie to major is considered sell out is because of the way mainstream music is conveyed now. It is pretty much dominated by R’n'B and hip hop and “punk” trash. If you look at Nelly Furtado and her latest team-up with that dude (I can’t be bothered finding out his name) with that song Promiscuous Girl. Compare that one to Furtado’s I’m like a Bird and you can truly hear the difference.

But if you think about it, it just really is climbing the ranks. It’s as simple as climbing the ranks in a career – it’s only natural. It’s our want to gain a higher sense of power. But because music is seen as something to express what we feel, I would guess that most people think that music should be free and should be enjoyed by everyone, and that is why going to a major label, to gain more money and popularity is just selfish. I believe that yes, some musicians want to do that only to gain money to buy whatever they want.

But what about musicians that want to go to a major label, only to give their music to more people. They really don’t want to gain money. A good example of musicians who really show that are the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They make millions everyday, but people who are fans of them would know they are really there for the music. Interviews, concerts and Anthony Keidis’ book, Scar Tissue shows the true side of how they really are. Look where they are now: they are proud that they can reach such a wide range of people, and even generations as Keidis once mentioned.

I would also guess that indie bands are scared to transfer to major labels because of the way their fans will see them – as sell outs, especially in today’s society like I have mentioned before. I think as listeners of music, it’s our duty to NOT judge the way bands go about doing things. Music today is so opinionated with “oh, they have lost their souls” or some crap like that. We should see them as how they still produce their music. If they still produce the music that you enjoy, you should still enjoy it. After all, “major label” is really just a “label”, hence its name. As listeners of music, I think we are just contradicting ourselves when we refuse to listen to music just because of a stupid label that people put on them. Don’t listen to them – they are not music fans at all, just apart of a superficial world. Listen to whatever you want, regardless of labels and opinions around you.
