Just a call to arms

Rightio, I have this assignment for college. I need to interview someone in the music industry. They don’t specifically have to be band manager, but they do need to be in the music industry eg. they could be a photographer. I’m getting pretty desperate here as I’ve sent off 20 emails with no responses and I need to get one by two weeks. Even less, I think (I haven’t checked my calendar yet).

So, has anyone got anything?

Jesus Christ, why is everybody getting in a huff about Michael Phelps’ diet? He eats stuff. Wow. I could eat those things as well. Why aren’t I bloody famous? And you know what’s really cool? I probably wouldn’t gain any weight from it. And you know what makes it more cool? I DON’T EXERCISE AS WELL. That is so awesome.

And all this media about him winning his bazillionith medal? As much as I congratulate him for something that no one has achieved except him, does it really matter? He’s white. He’s a man. He’s able-bodied. He’s still young and has a lot of time to achieve more. And he comes from the US. Maybe it’s just me, but is nobody seeing just how privileged he is? And he’s winning all this free shit and getting all this attention on it. There are people out there who want to compete in the Olympics and probably can’t because they’re just not privileged enough. People who are living in countries where the government don’t allow their citizens to travel, people who don’t have the money for a training coach, people who don’t have access to proper facilities etc.

There’s even an article on how he used to get picked on when he was a kid. EVERYBODY gets picked on when they’re a kid. How the fuck is he any different? Why do people fall for shit sob stories like that?

Yeah, we could talk about how some young able-bodied white guy from the US is winning heaps of gold medals, but there are probably tons of other interesting people competing at the Olympics with stories ten times better than him. You know, other people like female athletes, people of colour, athletes that are older than thirty and athletes that compete in the Paralympics. But instead we focus on this guy. Why? WHY?

Just got hold of this lovely article, asking if blue jeans are the unofficial uniforms of lesbians and feminists. Can I just say, this is the biggest piece of bullshit I’ve ever read. Ever. In my life.

My favourite parts?

Oh that’s right, no need to answer Mr. Idiot, for I have discovered the answer: women are people too! SHOCK-HORROR IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD.

According to him, feminists have a hidden agenda, and have a social engineering program:

Oh, and he also believes activists for queer people and queer people in general want to destroy heterosexual people. Yeah, he said so himself:
